Well, Dot-tel may not be using ‘new’ technology, but it certainly open up a new perspective for Internet world.
If you are so used to the .com or .net domains, you need to think carefully before you buy a .tel domain because .tel domains may not be what you expect.

I got one at 8.95 at name.com, but other registrar may charge you from $9.50 to $30.

But at the same time name.com is charging 23 USD year on year , which is much higher than other registrar .
I can say .tel is using latest technology and would be leading internet in through its capability to become global directory .
