When I was using 1st generation, the GPS voice navigation worked pretty well so I even left my GARMIN at home and just carried my Gphone.

Now after I got myTouch with Android 2.2, I could not wait to upgrade to the latest Google Maps 5.0+, but the GPS stopped working. Every time,  it shows “Follow the Route…” on the top and “Searching for GPS ” at the bottom, but never got me the live navigation. It found my current location alright. Then when I used my wife’s identical myTouch, all the GPS navigation works fine.  I searched Google for the problem,  no solution was found to get it fixed. Then I checked the version of Google Maps, I found my automatic upgrade got me in trouble, the 5.0 version is buggy! (I mean Google Maps Version:5.0.0(#5014)gmm-android tmobile-us ). So  I uninstalled to downgrade it, but it didn’t work anyway.  Then I restarted the phone, it works like a charm again, just like my wife’s phone. If we didn’t get the same myTouch, I might not have found the solution. Now, my working version is 4.5.1(#4665) gmm-android-tmobile-us ( Platform: android:HTC-glacier-HTC Glacier )

Just said Goodbye to my first generation Google Phone ( the 2 year contract was over couple of months ago and the phone is so worn out), so I got two new MyTouch HTC phones loaded with Android 2.2. I just love the HD video recording and the camera.  I love the “Angry Birds” game that can get my kids’s attention for a while. Then we were all hooked. As busy as I am, who could get any time for games?

Then I need to find something on PC that can take my kids off my phone when I need it. I hate to download anything and install.
