Reasons For Having A Blog For Your Web Site

Most of the people know about blogging already, but maybe not too many people really understand how important keeping a blog on your OWN web site for your SEO.

Most of the SEs (search engines) love content freshness. This is why you good contents on your blog can get higher page ranking that those static pages. One big mistake some people (even those in Internet business or so called Internet professionals) is that only run their own blogs on other people’s web sites with great contents.

I am not saying anything bad about those free services offerred by Blogger or WordPress.com (in fact, they are of some value by giving your lots of backlinks. As of this writing Blogger and WordPress.com do give you “dofollow” backlinks. Some others only may only give nofollow links to your site – no good for building your web site link popularity.)

Building WordPress blog using your own domain is just great for SEO. WordPress is so good that more and more web site owners use it as a full-blown CMS (content management system). Keeping your blog on your own site can also help you plan better landing pages, conversion form and tracking system.

The default installation of WordPress blog, however, does not give you all the benefits you deserve for your SEO. If you want to know more details, you can contact me or refer to my future articles.

Stay tuned, I will show you some great examples of using WordPress to redesign the whole web site in near future.

Inbound Marketing is much more attractive to small to medium businesses. It includes SEO, blogging, facebook, twitter, ebooks etc. You should start all these, today!

What Is Inbound Marketing?

What I am talking about is the first definition of Inbound Marketing in the Wikipedia:

Inbound marketing is marketing focused on getting found by customers. This sense is related to relationship marketing and Seth Godin’s idea of permission marketing. David Meerman Scott recommends that marketers “publish their way in” (via blogs etc.) in contrast to outbound marketing where they used to have to “buy their way in” (via paid advertisements). Next best action marketing can also be applied.

Traditional marketing (outbound marketing) is where companies focus on finding customers by advertising. This sense is related to intrusion marketing and Godin’s term interruption marketing.

And today I want to focus on the new type of inbound marketing methods that we should use in this world of Internet. You can find great summary in the promotion video of Hubspot about inbound marketing vs the traditional outbound marketing. Inbound marketing mainly includes: SEO , blogging(along with other social media such as twitter, facebook, etc), free books, and so on. And these are readily available to small to medium businesses without too much budget to succeed.

Hubspot also has some great tools for you get started with inbound marketing. Some are free useful tools you can find on their web site. Their paid services and tools are marvelous too. Just Google or Twitter search for “Hubspot” and you can find a bunch of great feedback on their Internet marketing services. Or you may find some tweets about them by following me seopro21@twitter.com where you find a link to their great Webinar on this top today.

The bottom line is if you have started doing any of these inbound marketing, start something like this today. Don’t be the last one.
