Many users of Chrome have been complaining about lack of master password even since Chrome came over long time ago. Sadly, Google didn’t response to the complaints at all.

Now I’m running Portable Google Chrome 5.0.335.0 from Portable Apps and still have seen a sign of solutions from Google.

Maybe Google just doesn’t want to give a false sense of security with the master password, but I do believe Firefox and other major browsers have a good reason to offer master password to handily protect to some extent.

Now most of the Chrome users who complained found the Chrome extension LastPass to their rescue. This handy extension LastPass has 80,593 users – Weekly installs: 12,468. And I found it work pretty well too. As I was also working with Kaiser Permanente on security issues and am well aware of HIPAA compliance requirements, I want to share this article with you:
LastPass: Is it the password manager for you?, published not long ago.

Google Chrome is the fastest web browser that runs web pages and applications with lightning speed. Now the great news is that you can run it from your USB or run it as a green application on your computer, thanks to the efforts of PortableApps guys.

If you are using Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and up or Mac OS X, you should really try this Chrome web browser. Not convinced? Read Chrome vs Firefox 3.6 vs Safari vs Webkit: Chrome Wins Again!

For Windows users, it is much easier for you now.

First you need to go to http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/google_chrome_portable to download it and install it on your computer. (Sorry, Windows version only)

Then you may copy the whole folder (default name “GoogleChromePortable”) to your USB drive or another folder on another drive if you want two copies if you want to them side by side.

Why do you want to run two different copies of Chrome side by side? For me, I have two reasons:
1) I need to log into two different Gmail or Google accounts at the same time to keep me constantly updated;
2) I may need to try out different Chrome extensions for different copies of my Chrome browsers. I may want a light copy of Chrome will none or very few extensions for the fastest speed.

The people at PortableApps are great. If you appreciate their efforts, you should donate at http://portableapps.com/donate

The portable tools and apps are green because they leave no foot prints in the system registry. If you don’t like the application, you can just delete the folder or only keep it in your USB drive so that you can take it anywhere.

I love this portable Google Chrome because I need to take it with me and I have been trying to run multiple incidents of Chrome with different cache, extension pool and configurations.

Being a Chrome extension developer, I found it very useful in my development and testing.

Being a professional SEO and Internet Marketer, I love the SEO Chrome extensions that are available, even in my USB drive.

For Mac users, you can go to Google Chrome Portable (Chromium) 3.0.195 for Mac | Google Chrome Portable 4.0.212.1 for Mac. The good thing about it is you can test your web site with two different version of Chromes.
